Welcome
You are here because it is your divine right to become King (or Queen) of the World.
This is a tick-based, real-time strategy game. Sometimes, new players find the game to be a bit slow because of this, but once you start moving up in the ranks you'll find that the pace really picks up. It's designed this way so that you can be relatively successful even if you only log in to the game for a few minutes, once or twice a day.
Getting acquainted with your profile page
When you first log into the game, you'll begin at your profile page. Here's a breakdown of that page:
- Header section - contains game tips and game timing information, including the time of the most recent recalculation period.
- Title section - contains your rank, full title and name, and a link to the Alliance to which you are currently a member. You can control who can see your name.
- Notifications section - contains a number of icons which are grayed-out by default but will become colorized to notify you of important information. Hover over each notification icon to see more information.
- Actions tab - contains links to all the major actions that you can perform. Hover over the tab to expand it.
- News section - contains all news related to you, organized into different categories. The category that you are currently viewing is highlighted.
- Entourage spots - the Royal image of those who accept an invite to join your entourage will appear here.
- Showcased treasures - treasures that you showcase will be displayed here.
- Royal Wall - other citizens can leave you messages here.
- Main navigation section - contains categorized links to some important pages in the game. Hover over each menu item to see the drop down menus.
- Profile navigation section - contains links to the different tabs of your profile. The tab that you are currently viewing is highlighted. Defaults to the Vitals tab.
- Assets section - contains information about all of your assets. Hover over each asset icon to see more information.
- Royal image - this is your Facebook profile image by default, but you can upload a different image if you like. You can control who can see your Facebook profile image.
- Royal motto - clicking on anyone's Royal Motto in the game will take you to that citizen's Royal Declarations page.
- Additional info section - contains other important information about you.
First steps
When you first join the game, you are under the protection of the high courts for 7 days, which means that no invasions can take place without leaving protection. Some things you can and should do immediately are (most of these actions can be accessed via the Actions tab located on your profile page):
- Establish communications with your ruler - a good ruler will help you progress because it's in his best interest as well as your own. If he doesn't seem responsive to posts that you leave on his Royal Wall, it may be a good idea to look for a new one. A good way to do this is by posting a message on The World Discussion Board.
- Join an Alliance - though it is not mandatory to join one, Alliances, like rulers, can be a tremendous help. There is strength in numbers.
- Build new structures - different structures serve different purposes, but all will make you more powerful. The number of Royal Standards and Battle Standards that you have (whether they be your own or those of others) directly determines the amount of land that you have, which determines the number of structures that you can build.
- Train new soldiers - the high courts won't protect you forever. Soldiers will allow you to protect your lands from the invasions that are soon to come. You'll also need soldiers to start invasions of your own.
- Educate new scholars - scholars give you gold which is necessary to perform many of the actions in the game.
- Find subjects - it's never too early to be someone else's ruler. Subjects pay you a tribute of gold, every day. Find subjects among citizens already in the game or from among your friends who have yet to join.
- Buy yourself a treasure - while some treasures are just for show, others can make you more powerful when showcased.
- Earn honor credits - some assets can only be purchased with honor credits (e.g. enhanced treasures). You can earn honor credits by simply logging in to the game once a day, visiting the chat room for an hour, or by performing various tasks.
- Drop protection and begin attacking - if you'd rather go on the offensive right away, you can drop the protection given to you by the high courts and begin invading others in the hopes of acquiring some of their land (i.e. one of their battle standards), gold, and scholars. Keep in mind, however, that dropping the protection will open you up for attack.
Good luck!
